Italy, Mestre – Products from Osawa and Nikko Tools

The Italian company Sorma, a leading player in the designing and distribution of high performance cutting tools, is announcing a series of significant new product introductions at the forthcoming EMO 2017 exhibition in Hannover (Hall 5, Stand A84).

The new products from the Osawa and Nikko Tools ranges are designed to provide customers with the performances, flexibility and versatility that are required today to win by increasing productivity.

Drilling and milling product families

The most significant introduction is the new Osawa catalogue 2018 featuring all solid drilling and milling product families including the new products showcased during the exhibition.
For the new drilling solutions, key focus at EMO will be on the HPU drills, a new generation of carbide coated drills, able to deliver high performance both in case of mass production and in case of small batches and different work piece materials.

The HF EVOlution product family becomes the most comprehensive range of variable helix.

The excellent chip evacuation

The special “Sgeometry and wider chip pockets allow an excellent chip evacuation; the straight edge profile and the 45° corner chamfer edge allow increased toughness even with higher feed rate and with very abrasive work-piece materials, resulting in a longer tool life.

The drills’ special design allows also easier re-grinding. HPU drills are available with diameter from 3 mm to 20 mm, with or without internal coolant and in 3xD and 5xD versions and deliver outstanding performances on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, and superalloys.

HF EVOlution for milling

In milling, the HF EVOlution product family becomes the most comprehensive range of variable helix and unequal pitch endmills for universal use available in the market, thanks to the addition of new lines including extra short corner radius, long endmills for trochoidal milling smooth cut for reduced cutting forces and the enhancement of the ALU range for machining of aluminum.

Regarding the indexable systems Nikko Tools there will be also several important introductions:

– the addition of the 5xD range to the DRS drilling family that, after one year since the introduction of the 2xD and 4XD ranges, has already collected significant appreciation both in Italy and Europe;
– the extension of the HF4PLUS range for high feed milling with the introduction of additional options for the choice of inserts size, available now also with size 07 and 10;
– the new range of ground inserts for turning, both in cermet and micrograin carbide, for applications requiring excellent finishing and extremely tight tolerances.

Faster and more effective response to customers’ special solutions

Another important news come from the Advanced Materials (PCBN, PCD e ceramics), with an evolution the range that will enable a faster and more effective response to customers’ special solutions requirements.

The Nikko Tools Advanced range offers already 25 different PCBN grades for turning applications on hardened steel, cast iron and heat resistant alloys. Moreover, 6 different PCD grades are available, including CVD and Monocristalline options, for aluminum and other non- ferrous materials machining, together with PCBN e PCD solutions for milling, grooving and threading operations.

Eleven ceramic grades for turning and milling hardened steel

The advanced materials portfolio includes also 11 different ceramics grades for turning and milling of hardened steel and heat resistant alloys machining.
«EMO exhibition is for sure a window opened on the future of the engineering industry – says Giancarlo Galluzzi, General Manager Sorma – We are aware that year 2018 for Sorma starts already from September. It’s for this reason that we are happy to bring so many important developments to the market such as the new Nikko Tools solutions and, above all the new Osawa 2018 catalogue to support our customers projects ».
Sorma will be available at EMO in Hall 5, Stand A84, to present the key features of the new products and of the whole range.
