ABB consolidates its position as China’s leading supplier of industrial robots. ABB Robotics, the leading supplier of industrial robots in China and a leading global manufacturer, announced 50,000 robots manufactured in China. The 50,000th industrial robot, an IRB 1200, was purchased by BYD Electronics, a world-leading vertically integrated provider of handset components and modules manufacturing and assembly services.

The robot will be used at the consumer electronic giant’s plant in Huizhou in southern China for machining, polishing and assembly of mobile phones.

Profund changes are taking place in industria robot today

Today’s milestone acknowledges the enduring relationships and great collaboration we have with customers here in China,” said Per Vegard Nerseth, Managing Director of ABB Robotics. There are profound changes taking place in industrial automation today, and ABB Robotics is proud to be contributing to this bright future and the vision of Made in China 2025.

ABB has a long history in the China market in 1994 and is the only multi-national robotics company with a fully local value chain, from R&D to manufacturing, application centers, service and spare parts. Today, it has over 1,600 people in more than 20 different offices in China.

BYD’s purchase of the IRB 1200 is one of many ABB robots which BYD ordered this year as part of its strategy to create safer and more environmentally friendly technologies.

Global leader with milestone delivery of the 300,000th robot

We are pleased to receive ABB Robotics’ 50,000th industrial robot,” says Wang Nianqiang, CEO of BYD Electronics. “Our goal at BYD is to touch and improve lives; everything we do is built around that principle. We believe that technology can make life better. ABB Robotics has opened up the pathway for innovation in the field of manufacturing while ensuring the safety, health and well-being of our employees.

In June, ABB solidified its position as the number one robot manufacturer in Europe and a global leader with the milestone delivery of its 300,000th robot. ABB recognized this milestone during a short ceremony on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in Shanghai, China in its booth at CIIF 2016.
