New Allrounder Golden Electric

• Event: Arburg presents the new electric series at an event hosted by partner MIHB in Oyonnax;
• Theory: 45 guests receive an exclusive insight into new machines and topic of energy efficiency;
• Practice: a tour of production rounds off the event.

Arburg France presented the new electric Allrounder Golden Electric series at an event hosted by its partner and customer MIHB in Oyonnax. In addition to presentations from Arburg, MIHB and energy utility company EDF, a guided tour of MIHB production was also arranged, offering the 45 guests the opportunity to see an Allrounder 470 E Golden Electric in operation at first hand.

“The new Golden Electric series is designed to meet our customers’ demands for high-performance entry-level electric machines for the precise, energy-efficient production of complex moulded parts,” emphasises Marc Schuh, Managing Director of Arburg France. “We have demonstrated this to our guests in theory and practice.” In this context he praised the long-standing close constructive partnership with MIHB, a specialist in high quality technical injection moulding, which provided the perfect setting for the event. As well as the new machine series presented by Marc Schuh and sales team member Thomas Catala, the event also focused on the topic of “energy efficiency”. Marc Berthou, a researcher and energy expert in the industry sector at EDF, held a presentation on this subject.

New Golden Electric series
The new Allrounder Golden Electric machines make use of consistent standardisation to offer an excellent price/performance ratio, e.g. through a fixed combination of distance between tie-bars, clamping force and injection unit size. The machines come in four sizes, 370, 470, 520 and 570 with clamping forces of 600, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 kN. The electric entry-level machines feature liquid-cooled motors and servo inverters and also offer benefits in terms of energy efficiency, short dry cycle times and high reproducibility. Compared to hydraulic standard machines, the high efficiency of the servo motors, continuous power adaptation and energy recovery during braking achieve energy savings of up to 55 percent.

Arburg partner MIHB
The key area of expertise of MIHB, which has been an Arburg customer for around 45 years, lies in complex technical parts. 55 Allrounders are in use in production, including many automated and multi-component machines. As part of the event, an Allrounder 470 E Golden Electric with a clamping force of 1,000 kN produced stacking boxes in a cycle time of around 20 seconds. A Multilift Select linear robotic system was used for handling. The guests also had the opportunity to tour the company in order to gain a first-hand impression of energy-efficient plastic part production.

Promotion of energy-efficient machines
Arburg is a pioneer in the fields of energy and production efficiency. Modest energy requirements and the conservation of resources are important aspects with regard to all developments and investments. In 2014, Arburg launched an energy-saving campaign together with energy utility company EDF. France issues a CEE energy-saving certificate especially for electric and hybrid injection moulding machines that have low energy requirements and subsidies are also available to help with their purchase. The grant depends on the machine type, the installed output and the operating conditions.

About Arburg
German machine manufacturer Arburg is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of injection moulding machines with clamping forces between 125 and 5,000 kN. This is complemented by robotic systems, customer- and industry-specific turnkey solutions and further peripheral equipment. An innovative additive manufacturing system was added to the plastics processing range in 2013.
The company places the topic of production efficiency at the centre of all its activities, taking into account the entire value-added chain. The objective is to enable the Arburg customers to manufacture their plastic products, whether one-off parts or high-volume batches, in optimal quality and at minimum unit costs – e.g. for the automotive and packaging industries, communication and entertainment electronics, medical technology or the white goods sector.
An international sales and service network guarantees first-class, local customer support. Arburg is represented by its own organisations at 33 locations in 25 countries and by trading partners in more than 50 countries. The machines are produced exclusively at the parent company in Lossburg, Germany. Of a total of roughly 2,550 employees, around 2,100 work in Germany. About 450 further employees work in Arburg’s organisations around the world. In 2012, Arburg became one of the first companies to gain triple certification: to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 50001 (Energy).
